Install guide for Argon d2c modchip for Nintendo Wii.

This install guide has been updated to include the extra 4 points used for enabling import and region compatibility.

Installing an Argon chip is much easier than installing a d2ckey, but its still not something to take lightly.


You need:



General soldering tips

  • Tin every wire
  • Use rosin flux on everything you are soldering (clean it off after with isopropyl alcohol)
  • Dont hold soldering iron to a point for more than 2-3 seconds. They damage easily
  • Use a multimeter to check for bridges between points
  • Use a multimeter to check for continuity. Check between alternate point and point on Argon chip
  • Keep wires as short as possible



Positioning the Argon D2C Modchip

The positions we suggest for your Argon install are shown in the diagram below.
Make sure the modchip is insulated from any possible contact points between the Wii and the
underside of the Argon modchip.
If you use the alternative points on the underside of the Wii drive board,
we recommend using double sided tape to fix the Argon modchip in place first.





Install Diagram

Just use the one of the install diagrams shown here.
If you are using the underside install points, be very careful of the ribbon cables when removing the drive board.
Take your time if you haven't performed a d2c install before.
Becoming impatient or frustrated is more likely to make you damage the Wii than anything else, so take a break if this happens.
