If you have been looking at purchasing a Nintendo DS flash cartridge, you have probably noticed that there are alot of options.
It can be hard to decide on which flash cartridge to choose. Especially with the large amount of incorrect and old information out there.
We have made things a little bit easier with a comparison chart of the most popular Nintendo DS Flash Cartridges. You will find a complete list of features for each flash cartridge as well as a definition of each feature in laymans terms.

Features Explained:

A more detailed explanation of each of the features compared above.

Manufacturer:

Provides the name of the company/business that designed and developed the product.

Slot 1:

Slot 1 is the the name of the slot on the Nintendo DS that the DS Games fit into.

Original NDS Cartridge size:

If the flash cartridge is Original NDS Cartridge size, it will fit into slot 1 without sticking out or being difficult to fit.
It will be the same size as all NDS Game Cartridges.

Uses MicroSD:

Most DS Flash Cartridges available need a micro sd memory card for storage.

Supports SDHC MicroSD:

SDHC MicroSD is a newer type of MicroSD which allows for larger MicroSD memory cards.
Most MicroSD with a capacity of 4gb and larger are SDHC.
If the Flash Cartridge doesn't support SDHC you will be limited to less than 4gb MicroSD.

Copy and Paste:

If the Flash Cartridge supports copy and paste, all you have to do is copy your backup roms onto the MicroSD to play.
There is no need to patch or convert the files.

Supports all Roms:

The Flash Cartridge supports 100% of correctly backed up roms available.
This is based on a small section of tested roms and may change over time.

Supports Homebrew:

Homebrew programs are programs that are generally written with no intention of profit, by people in the modding community.
There are some very interesting games and programs available, absolutely free, but they can only be used in Conjunction with a Flash Cartridge that supports homebrew.

Loading speed:

Loading speed was determined by us. We recorded the loading times of a variety of games on each Flash Cartridge.
A rating of "medium" is 5 seconds slower to load than "fast" on average.
A rating of "slow" is 10 seconds slower to load than "fast" on average.
Loading speeds may change with software improvements.

DIY skin support:

A skin is a series of images used to change the look and feel of your Nintendo DS.
With DIY skin support, you can download or create your own skins.

Frequent Updates:

The software that runs your DS Flash Cartridge is updateable.
For updates to be regarded as frequent, new versions had to be available for download every 1-2 months.
An occasional rating was given to software that was updated every 2-6 months.
Frequent updates are important to keep up with the latest games and features.

Save Progress to MicroSD:

Being able to save your progress to microsd means you are able to use your saves on any DS with a Flash Cartridge.
Often you can also save your game at any point.

Rom Trimming:

Rom Trimming removes any unnecesary parts of the backup rom.
This results in a smaller file on the MicroSD and possibly faster loading times.

User Interface:

We based our rating on the number of features and ease of use.
We regarded ease of use as one of the most important features (being able to use the cartridge with no experience and without reading the manual).

Cartridge Quality:

Original game cart size, simple plug and play, no passme or flashed NDS needed!!!

The Acekard 2 is the same size as an original game cart and you don’t have to flash your machine or use a passme in order to use the Acekard 2.

Never lost save data

Acekard 2 use the technology of directly writting save file to MicsoSD card. No need to manually select save size or backup save when turn on DS. No battery needed. Acekard 2 can use save files from other flash carts and do not need convert. All you need to do is make sure the save file has the same prefix name and put it at the same directory of ROM. Support Action Reply cheats. Build-in editor

Acekard 2 support Action Replay cheats in .dat, .xml and .cc format. You can select how to use AR cheats by using the build-in editor.
1, Copy AR cheats in .dat or .xml format to /__ak2/cheats. Copy .cc format file to the same directory of ROM.
2, Press "Y" to popup the editor.
3, Select "Cheat DB file".
4, Select the cheat file.
5, Select "Rebuild".
6, If you have the cheat code of the game then a list window will be shown. You can use "X" and "Y" to enable or disable them.
7, Press "A" to save your changes and enter game for fun.

Built in "Rom Trimming" Function

The Acekard 2 has a “Rom Trimming” Function built in. When you copy a file in the Micro SD , the Acekard 2. will automatically trim any un-necessary data in a ROM.

Operation/HotKey/Remarks
 
 

1 * Update the kernel
 Connect the TF card to PC by the card reader, insert CD, copy the " TTMENU " directory and TTMenu.dat file from the necessary language directory to the root directory of TF card (e.g. the simplified kernel file).

2 * Copy ROM file
 Connect the TF card to PC by the card reader, copy ROM (file) or homebrew to TF card.

3 * Main Menu Operation
 A. Enter the main menu, select file by direction keys or touchpod(UP and DOWN button for ROM, LEFT/RIGHT button for flipping), press A or touchpod to run ROM.

B. Click the right button() of selected ROM to enter sub-option interface. If Black screen or White screen appears, then enter "option" interface and open or close "DMA mode", the problem can be resolved. If still not ok, please contact us.

C. While the "Soft Reset" function is on, pressing "L+R+A+B+X+Y" can go back to the DSTT menu, Please do not do this while saving, as it will lead to malfunction,It is recommended to go back to main menu before you function the "Soft Reset".
If the error occurs on running games, please try to turn off the "Soft Reset".

D. Open action replay cheat on "option" interface if the corresponding ROM have it. then click " save" to back main menu and run ROM.

4 * About Archive
 It will create the new archive if it is the first running, as it will be updated automatically while running the game. The file name of the archive is the same with the games, the extension is .SAV, can be backup or restored from PC at anytime.

    Cheat Code DIY Manual

    Introduce
    DS ONE OS 2.0 added NDS game cheat code function. Player can on/off each cheat code option dividually when playing the game. Player can press Hotkey to switch between cheat code menu and game play screen. It's a real time cheat code. The best cheat code system in the world.

    DS ONE NDS cheat code file
    DS ONE use special cheat code file *.scc, player can use software convert *.cht to *.scc easily, so play can add, modify and delete the cheat code by themself. And this convert software also support *.cht file with create by Emu-Cheat. It's very easy to make your own cheat code file by yourself.

    Q:How to create *.cht cheat code file?
    A:Please use Emu-Cheat software to creat *.cht file, Or download the *.cht file from internet directly.

    Q:How to convert *.cht to *.scc?
    A:

    • 1. Run cht2supercardcheat.exe
    • 2. Click "Make Cheat" button.
    • 3. Select the .CHT file which you want to convert.

      How to use *.scc cheat code file?
      A:There are two methods:
    • 1. If the ROM in the database. You can rename *.scc to the ROM series runber, and put the *.scc to scshell\cheat.
      Example: If you have a ROM "0061 - Bomberman (U)" which in the patch database, you can rename the .scc file to 0061.scc and put it into scschell\cheat folder.
    • 2. If there is a new ROM not in the database, You should rename the *.scc file name to match the ROM name. And put the ROM and *.scc in the same folder.
      Example: If you hava a ROM "1060 - SuperMan" which is not in the patch database, you can rename the *.scc file to "1060 - SuperMan.scc", and put it with the ROM file together.

    RealTime Cheat Code

    The most powerful cheat code system in the world. DSONE not only has the function which can turn ON/OFF all the cheat code like other similar product, but also has the exclusive function to enter a cheat code MENU to turn ON/OFF the cheat code individually at anytime,. Only DSONE has this function.

  • The request of using RealTime Cheat Code function:
    1. DSONE OS v3.0 and Up
    2. Should be run in patch mode. And select the “Enable Cheat” option.
    3. How to enable RealTime Save function: Click “SET PATCH” from File Information window or press hotkey L+X

    Select “Enable Patch” and “Enable Cheat” option.


    3. Make sure the the relative *.scc cheat code file in the folder \scshell\cheat.
    DSONE profice more than 500 .scc files in default. If the cheat code system can not work, that mean the *.scc file is unavailable.

     

  • How to get .scc file if unavaiable?
    1. SuperCard Team will continue release new *.scc file.
    2. Player can make the *.scc file by themselves. Please reference readme.txt from cheat code tools which can be download from: http://eng.supercard.cn/soft_scdsone.htm

      A:There are two methods:
    • 1. If the ROM in the database. You can rename *.scb to the ROM series runber, and put the *.scb to scshell\book.
      Example: If you have a ROM "0061 - Bomberman (U)" which in the patch database, you can rename the .scb file to 0061.scb and put it into scschell\book folder.
    • 2. If there is a new ROM not in the database, You should rename the *.scb file name to match the ROM name. And put the ROM and *.scb in the same folder.
      Example: If you hava a ROM "1060 - SuperMan" which is not in the patch database, you can rename the *.scb file to "1060 - SuperMan.scb", and put it with the ROM file together.

    SC DS ONE DS Game Guide

    DSONE RealTime can swtich between Game Guide display screen and Game Playing screen at anytime. This is a very useful function for who like to play RPG game. Only DSONE has this function.

  • The request of using RealTime Game Guide function:


    • 1. DSONE OS v2.0 and Up
    2. Should be run in patch mode. And select the “Enable Guide” option..
    3. How to enable RealTime Save function:
    Click “SET PATCH” from File Information window or press hotkeyL+X

     



    Select “Enable Patch” and “Enable Guide” option.


    4. Make sure the the relative *.scb game guide file in the folder \scshell\cheat.
    If the game guide system can not work, that mean the *.scb file is unavailable.

  • How to make .scb file is unavaiable?

    • 1. Please download the software from:

    2. Create a new *.txt file. Copy the game guide to the *.txt file.
    3. Run cht2supercrdcheat and open *.txt, click “make book” button to output a *.scb game guide file.
    4. Rename the *.scb prefix name to the same as *.nds. Put the *.scb to the \scshell\book folder. System will load the *.scb automaticly.

    Q: How to use DS Browser with Supercard DS ONE?

    A: Make sure you have normal Supercard series. Rumble series can not.

    • Slot 1: SuperCard DS ONE with the ROM of DS Browser for SC (click to download).
    • Slot 2: SuperCard CF / SD / MiniSD/ MicroSD
    • Note: Please make sure the SD/MiniSD/MicroSD with a flash memory card insert, otherwise it will not be regonized by NDS.

    Q: What is different in THREE MODE Supercard DS ONE?

    • A:

    • Standard Mode: 100% Clean ROM support, need high speed flash memory card. New game needs to be selected saver size or update the new saver size database. Operation: From the Menu??Other??AUTO Set SD Speed. And press A to save config.
    • Patch Mode (default): Real time patch. Compatible with all speed flash memory card. Auto select save size. 99% game support. Support RESET function. This is system default setting. Operation: From the Menu??Other??Enable Patch. And select Enable Patch.
    • Super Mode: Need extra software, ROM needs to be converted by PC. This Mode is designed for future functions. Such as gold finger, real time game guide etc.

    Q: Why I just get 2 white screens when loading any games?
    A: 1. That mean your microSD/TFlash memory card is a slow speed card, you can decrease the MicroSD speed from menu: Option-->SD Speed-->1X 2X 3X 4X 5X. Decrease the speed can increase the compatibility of MicroSD, but some games need a high speed flash memory card, such as " Castlevania PoR ", this game need a high speed memory card and Speed need to be set to 4X. A: 2. The "Saver size" is wrong, please download the newest "Saver size" database from here: SuperCard DS ONE Saver Size database.
    Q: Why it always show " Black warning screen " before enter main menu?
    A: Don't worry about it. It's a system self test message.

    Q: The save file is not the same name as the Rom name, save file always short name?
    A: The save file is created by system, it's short name, system can recognise it. Don't worry about it.

    Q: Do I need to select correct " Saver size " for each game at " Saver Icon " before play any NDS roms or not ? Don't have any autodetect saver size ?

    • A:

    • In Standard Mode, SuperCard DS ONE support Clear ROM, so user need to select the "Saver size" by themself. Fortunately, we have a Saver size database in the DS ONE operation system, system will select the saver size automatic. But some games and new games "Saver size" are not in the database, if a game can not save, user should select the "Saver size" manually. System will remember the "Saver size", user just need to select it at the first time.
    • In Patch Mode, SuperCard DS ONE can autodetect saver size.

    Q: How to change the "Saver size" manually ?
    A: In Standard Mode, Use direct key to select a game, use touch pen to from the menu: Option-->File Info. There will be a File Info window appear, the game info. are list in the window, include the save size. There is a button "CHANGE" after the Save Size, just use touch pen to change the "Saver size" here, and touch "SAVE" button after selecting the correct szve size

    Q: Should I select the "Saver size" each time to play ?
    A: In Standard Mode, No. You do not need to do that, system will remember after the first setting.

    Q: Why there are some games can not be played? Is it a real 100% compatibility?
    A: In Standard Mode, It's 100% compatibility. It support Clear ROM, so it support new games in the future. If you can not play a game, it must be flash memory card speed problem. So games need a high speed flash memory card. Such as: such as " Castlevania PoR ", " Alphant GT2 "

    Q: I am using a high speed flash memory card, why some game still game not play?
    A: In Standard Mode, SuperCard DS ONE system defaut speed setting is 3X, you can set to 4X speed from the menu :Option-->SD Speed-->4X Speed. And the game you can play now.

    Q: How to work with SC Rumble Series as a Rumble PAK.?
    A: You should select the option from the menu: Other-->Set SC to Rumble Mode, and can work whit SuperCard Rumble Series. This function can be used in Standard mode, do not need to use any software.

    Q: How do I know SuperCard broken?
    A: Enter SELF TEST MODE to check it.

    Q: How do I know SuperCard version?
    A: Enter SELF TEST MODE to check it. English version SuperCard can only use English OS. Chinese and Japanese SuperCard should use relevant OS.

    The front side of TF card should be matched with the back side of R4 when TF card (MicroSD card) is plugged into R4

    1) Hardware Installation

    Connect the TF card to PC with the card reader, then, go to the "/SYSTEM" directory on the disk.
    A- Loading the game kernel: Copy the "_DS_MENU.DAT" at the directory of the simplified game kernel/ traditional game kernel to the root directory of TF card.

    B- Loading the media kernel: Copy the "moonshl" folder and the "_DS_MSHL.NDS" file at the "moonshell" directory to the root directory of TF card;

    C- Load the DIY interface: Copy all the folders "_system_" to the root directory of the TF card.

    2) Unload TF Card

    After finishing ROM added, then right click the removable disk icon on the right down corner of the screen; Draw out the TF card from card reader/writer.

    3) Main Menu Operation

    Connect the TF card to DS Slot-1 with the R4, turn on the power, the GUI will display in a few seconds. You can select ROMs or Media to run by the navigating keys or touch screen, press "A" button to enter the corresponding functions.

    4) Game Menu Operation

    - Choose the 'Game' to enter Game GUI; Press 'START' to go back to main menu.

    -Press the 'SELECT' key to select the display mode in game interface ("File Display", "Game Display" and "eBook Display", Default is "Game Display"), "N files", "N game" and "N eBook" display at top bar on the top screen.

    -Please be aware that the "SHELL,MOONSHL,_SYSTEM_"directory and the "_DS_MSHL.NDS "file will be hidden under the "Show Games Only" mode; Any other directories or files with hidden attributes will also be hidden.

    - You can choose the display model ("Display all" and "Only Display Game", default is "Only Display Game") by pressing "SELECT", and the top screen will display "N file" and "N Game".

    Please be aware that the "SHELL,MOONSHL,_SYSTEM_"directory and the "_DS_MSHL.NDS "file will be hidden under the "Show Games Only" mode; Any other directories or files with hidden attributes will also be hidden.

    4-scale-lightness adjustment is available to the DS Lite console by touching the sunny icon at the top left corner of game interface. (Not available to DS console, the sunny icon will turn to be gray if it is DS console.)

    At the right top of the touch screen it is the "Soft Reset"; Red indicator means the "Soft Reset" function is off; Green indicator means the "Soft Reset" function is on. The users may point on the touch screen or press "R" button to switch the "Soft Reset" On/Off.

    While the "Soft Reset" function is on, pressing "L+R+A+B+X+Y" can go back and forth to the game's main menu; Please do not do this while saving, as it will lead to malfunction, It is recommended to go back to main menu before you function the "Soft Reset".

    If the error occurs on running games, please try to turn off the "Soft Reset".

    - The top screen displays the files under the directory, 'Up/Down' key for rolling, 'Left/Right' key for flipping. The current path and amount of the total files will show on the top, the scroll bar will show the location of the current file.

    - The files under the directory will be sorted by file name, the directory (DIR) will display at the front. The (..) is the parent directory.

    - The bottom screen display the details of the files and directory, the icon and title will be displayed if it is NDS/IDS game.

    - Press 'A' button or touch screen to enter the corresponding functions or run the game, press "B" button to go back

    5) Running Game

    - Choose the game you like in the game menu; Press 'A' button or touch screen to run.

    - It will ask whether to create the new archive if it is the first running, press 'A' button or touch the 'Confirm' to create then run the game; Press 'B' button or touch 'Cancel' to cancel; Press 'X' button or touch 'Ignore' to omit creating archive and run the game.

    - You can check the modified time of the archive, as it will be edited automatically while running the game.

    - The file name of the archive is the same with the games, the extension is .SAV, can be backup or restored from PC at anytime.

    Default.nds file runs automatically under TF directory, it maybe temporarily hidden in the main menu while pressing B key to turn DsLite on; Pressing X key to delete this file if there is unneccessary to have it run automatically.

    6) Operation of action Replay Cheat

     Choose the corresponding game, if the official database (cheat.dat files under the _system_ folder) or the user database (usrcheat.dat files under the _system_ folder) contains the action Replay Cheat, the below screen will show the "action Replay Cheat (Y)" button, press the Y key or that button to enter the set up interface of cheat.

    If the two databases will contain an action replay cheat to the same game, there will be two "action replay cheat" buttons. The official database is on the left, the user database is on the right.

    On the top line of the above screen shows the game name, the top line of the below screen shows how many cheat code currently be selected and the total amount of the cheat codes can be selected, the bottom line of the below screen shows the version and created date of the current cheat database.

    The function of the six buttons on the below screen is described separately as below:

    "select all" press this button to select all the cheat code under the cheat opened circumstance.

    "delete all" press this button to delete all the selected cheat code under the cheat opened circumstance.

    "game open/close" press this button to control the cheat switch of this game, the left frame will show the current status.

    "cheat open/close" press this button to control the entire cheat function switch, the right frame will show the current status.

    "preserve and exit" press this button to preserve the current modification, and exit, the same function as well as press the START button.

    "discards and exit" press this button to not preserve the current modification, and exit, the same function as well as press the SELECT button.

    Under the cheat opened circumstance, use up and down arrow to choose each cheat code one by one; if it's the cheat folder, press A to unfold/fold the directory.

    Under the cheat-opened circumstance, use left and right arrow can go across 10 cheat codes.

    If do not need the cheat function, delete the cheat.dat files under the _system_ folder.

    When the two databases will contain an action replay cheat to the same game, users can open the action replay cheat in the database to by their needs and another one would be close (close action replay cheat by turning master switch off, closing games or do not choose any action replay cheat), kernel will automatically choose the use of opened action reply cheat (Cheats in two databases opened to one game at the same time, then it will use the one in official database).

    efore running game, under circumstance that a cheat has already been opened, in the process of running the game cheat can be temporarily closed by L+R+START+DOWN, you may press L+R+START+UP to open cheat.

    6) Read the eBook

    Select the eBook in the game menu, and open it by pressing 'A' key or touching the icon.

    It will ask whether to create a bookmark if it is the first running. Pressing 'A' key or touching the 'Confirm' button will create and then open the bookmark; Pressing 'B' key or touching the 'Cancel' button will not run the process; Pressing 'X' key or touching the 'Ignore' will open the eBook without creating the bookmark (The bookmark's function is invalid).

    Press 'START' key to exit the eBook mode and back to the main menu.

    Click "SELECT" key to switch the character layout horizontally on dual screens, vertically on dual screens or on one screen (mostly used in Asian layout); Backlight turns off under one screen mode in order to save power.

    Press the 'Up/Down' key can process the Row Up/ Row Down; Press the 'Left/Right' key can process the Page Up/Page Down.

    Press 'A' key can open/close the intelligent-paragraph division function.

    Press 'B' key to change the font (large, Medium, Small in rotation)

    Press 'X' key to change the font color (27 color in rotation).

    Press 'Y' key to change the row spacing (From 1-8 point space in rotation).

    eBook support the DIY background:

    Create 2 BMP files (256X192 pixels, 8 bit or 24 bit colors), name them to be "bckgrd_1.bmp" and "bckgrd_2.bmp", and then save to the "_system_/eBook" directory of the TF card.

    If the bookmark has been created, the features below will work:

    Whenever you press the 'START' key to exit, it can memorize the location where you have read automatically, and it will go to the location directly next time while you open the eBook.

    Press 'L' key to save the bookmark (3 positions available), press 'R' key to keep the previous bookmark (No any change).

    7) Switch of the Skins

    If the skin does not exist in the directory of _system_ in TF/microSD, it automatically uses the Skin from formal Beta Edition;

    There are 4 pictures at the directory "system/_system": logo.bmp ? icons.bmp ? bckgrd_1.bm and bckgrd_2.bmp. They are the background of the R4 operation interface; they can be changed to fit your style.

    bckgrd_1.bmp -- Background of the Top Screen of R 4' s Explorer.

    Note:
    Do not change the picture's name;
    Make sure the picture is .bmp format, 8-bit/24-bit;
    Make sure the picture is 253*192 pixels.

    After finishing process on the pictures, copy the "_system" folder to the root directory of the CF card.

    If the Skin exists in the directory of _system_ in TF/microSD, it automatically enters multi Skins mode.

    The Skins in multi Skins mode can be switched manually and automatically, it is automatically switched with the Skins by months.

    The method of the Skin switch is: Click "SELECT" key in main menu, it switches between twelve manual modes and one auto mode, the chart is showed as below (It automatically skips if the Skin does not exist in the directory of themes):

    If the users would like the switches of multi Skins while playing, they only need create the directory of themes in the directory of _system_.

    Q: Create system files error
    A: The system need to create a 4MB-temporary file, make sure the SD/TF has enough space.(It's better to run the R4 system to create this temporary file once you finish formatting the flash card, and do not delete it unless it is necessary

    Q: The system file is not correct.
    A: Once the 4MB-temporary file which is create by the system was damaged, user can delete the file and run the system to rebuild; Or run the R4 system to create the 4MB-temporary file after finish formatting the flash card, and do not delete it unless it is necessary.

    Q: How do saves work? Will I be able to backup my save-games?
    A: Easy and without extra software , you can backup your saves bysimply dragging and dropping them.

    Q: Failed to create archive?
    A: There are 2 possible reasons: One is the TF card has no enough space; Second: to the FAT16 OS, the root directory has a maximal file amount: 512(long file name will take more space), that means the surplus amount must be more than the amount that going to be created.

    Q: Archive has been damaged?
    A: There are 2 possible reasons also: First, the archive is damaged indeed; Second, If the archive is copy from the other type of flash card, it can't run directly before being converted via appointed software.

    Q: Is the R4 Compatible with the Rumble Pack or Opera Ram Expansion?
