Install guide for Wasabi d2c modchip for Nintendo Wii.

Buy a Wasabi Modchip for your Nintendo Wii online.

The Wasabi modchip is currently the easiest and most advanced Wii modchip on the market.
It is the only modchip that works on all versions of Wii (dms, d2a, d2b and d2c)
For dms, d2a and d2b, installing the wasabi requires soldering only 5 points.
For D2C, installing the wasabi requires soldering only 9 points.
These extra 4 points are more difficult, but using the alternative points provided can drastically reduce the install difficulty.

You need:

General soldering tips

  • Tin every wire
  • Use rosin flux on everything you are soldering (clean it off after with isopropyl alcohol)
  • Dont hold soldering iron to a point for more than 2-3 seconds. They damage easily
  • Use a multimeter to check for bridges between points
  • Use a multimeter to check for continuity. Check between alternate point and point on Argon chip
  • Keep wires as short as possible

Install Diagram

For DMS, D2A AND D2B, use only the blue install points in the first diagram!
For D2C use both the blue and Yellow points. Use either the points on the first (topside) install diagram or use a combination of points from both diagrams.
The alternate points are generally easier to solder than the d2c chip legs.
If you are using the underside install points, be very careful of the ribbon cables when removing the drive board.
Take your time if you haven't performed a d2c install before.
Becoming impatient or frustrated is more likely to make you damage the Wii than anything else, so take a break if this happens.
