Latest and Greatest Homebrew Games for Nintendo DS / DS Lite (NDS / NDSL)

Moving into the new warehouse over the past 2 months had stolen away all my free time. No time for relaxing, enjoying the beach, sports, gaming, or anything other than work.

Last weekend I finally got a chance just to sit down, relax and check out some homebrew games for my Nintendo DS Lite.
To say impressed is an understatement!!!








DSTT Flash Cartridge: DSTT for Nintendo DS/DS Lite (Buy Now)

Want to play these Homebrew games???

First you will need a flash cartridge like the DSTT.

Some of the DSTT features include:

* DS original cartridge size, Slot1 interface.
* Plug 'n Play, easy to use, just Drag 'n Drop file from PC to flash memory card.
* 100% SDHC TF and standard TF compatibility up to 4TB(4096GB) flash memory card.

Video Games Hero (VGH)

Searching the web the first homebrew game I came across was Video Games Hero (VGH).

Similar to Guitar Hero in some aspects but free=better.

VGH comes with over 65 songs to play, 5 different game modes and supports Guitar Grip and Motion Card. VGH has leaderboards, media, manuals and other updates available on their website.


Tetris Attack DS (Tetattds)

This homebrew version of the original game Tetris Attack allows both standard button use and supports stylus pen.

Tetattds can be played in single-player mode as well as online and local multi-player modes using WiFi.

Great game to chill out and play or get competitive with friends.


A Touch Of War (AToW)

Age of Empires got shrunk down onto the DS homebrew style. Navigate on minimaps with D-Pad or stylus.

Send units and workers out to gather resources, build structures, conquer enemy lands and much more.

This real-time strategy game is hours of fun just in single player mode and now AToW allows you to easily play against people worldwide via WiFi to your PC.


AmplituDS

Music guitar/space invaders. You are in control of a spaceship moving it left and right or hovering in another lane.

The goal is to shoot all targets without missing one.

Sounds easy enough, yeah? The music of a lane will only play if you're shooting down all the targets ;-)


Bitsweeper!

Very similar to one of my fav time wasting games on the PC, Minesweeper.

You are the Bitsweeper, explosives hunter extraordinaire. Your mission, although simple, is very dangerous: locate and deactivate all the missing bits on bitfields before they hurt anyone else. You will be presented with an unchecked bitfield.

You don't know the Bits location; you must calculate it through visual cues that appear on the field.


Blackjack DS

This famous card game is played in casinos worldwide. Now play this homebrew version on your DS free :-)

The aim of the game is to "score as close to 21 as possible and use some of the other common rules such as doubling and splitting, or introduce new rules altogether."

Blackjack DS has as much information as possible about the state of the game at any given time. So players now will find it easy to check out their win/loss stats, success of certain decisions, and more.


Crocodingus In Cube Island

Crocodingus In Cube Island is a full 3D game that you can play on your Nintendo DS.

You move the crocodile with the stylus through puzzles! You must help Crocodingus to finish the game. This innovative game has a crazy storyline involving a crocodile, a crow and monkeys.

Crocodingus combines puzzle and platform action with 10 Levels + a Secret Level can you find it? :-)


Dice Wars

For strategy gamers who don't really worry too much over next gen graphics this video game is perfect.

Both single and multiplayer game modes with up to eight players supported. Your task is to conquer the whole game field by rolling dice. Each turn you may attack an opponent's territory.

A mix of strategy and a little bit of luck as most games go.

DSCube (Rubik's Cube on DS)

The Rubik's Cube seemed to be the 'in' thing long ago. Now with DSCube its back and even more portable on the Nintendo DS. With 2 x2 , 3 x 3 & 4 x 4.

If you don't have a real Rubik's Cube this free download is perfect for you.

The controls on DSCube are pretty easy to use thanks to the touch-screen support: just drag the stylus over the part of the cube that you want to turn.


Escape

An 'Old School' adventure game. Where a man finds himself stranded in an unknown island after losing control of his spaceship.

As Captain Maouss, it's the player's job to survive in this inhospitable place while bartering with the natives in order to get the ticket out of the island.


Ka-BOOM

Ka-Boom is different to all other minesweeper games.

At the start of the game if you click on a cell containing a bomb without having any clues you have 2 seconds to blow in the mic to extinguish the fuse! Have fun!

The 5 best times from each of 3 game modes (Normal, Double, Huge) are safeguarded. On the screen highscores page, press B to show when the scores were achieved.


MasterMindDS

It's all up to you to find the right code with the hints you get! 'Old School' board game now on your DS.

The rules are simple - You should in eight attempts, try to guess the order and colour of four marbles.

Silver tells you that one of your marbles has the right colour but not the right position, and gold tells you that one of your marbles both has the right colour and the right place.


[DS]MemorizeME

Here's some more brain training with your Nintendo DS. MemorizeME sports some nice graphics and cruisy background music.

There's also "Slow" power up, which will buy you some time while playing the game.

MemorizeME is a port of the memory game where you will be shown a set of symbols in a grid, and it's your task to memorize them then pick them out once the tiles are face down.


MegaETk

MegaETk feels like sonic/mario with a gun. I loved playing this game.

Storyline: In a normal day in a normal city, 4 Monsters has appeared on Earth and started to invade everything. Their Leader started to summon small monsters which will be his soldiers.

Dr.ETk started to design MegaETk, the new hero that will kill all the monsters and return the peace to the world.


NightFox's Colors (Tetris with groovy music)

The goal of the game is simple, get as many points as possible in the course of the 25 levels and avoid blocks filling the screen.

The blocks are removed when you connect 3 or more of the same colour in any direction (including the diagonals).

You get more points for bigger combo's achieved. Be mindful of the two special tokens of the game, the shifter and drafts they affect whatever they strike.


OpenTyrian DS

Tyrian is an 'Old School' arcade-style vertical scrolling shooter. There are a variety of enemies, some flying, some fixed, some on rails and bosses.

A great feature of Tyrian for youngsters/newbies is that it is very forgiving of enemy hits.

Before the player's starship is destroyed it must take enough damage to exhaust several points of shields and armour.


Dual Pac-man DS

Thought you were good at PacMan try 2 games at once!!!

The challenge is up to you to play in normal or double mode.

In normal mode the D-pad controls Pac-man when.

In double mode, the D-pad will control the touch screen of the DS, while buttons A, B, X, and Y controls the top screen.
